KTA1 - Example Of Research Undertaken In Class

Event 1: Tramlines

The Tramlines is a planned music festival that is hosted in Sheffield in places such as the 02 Arena, Fez Club, Yellow Arch etc. It is a popular music festival that attracted 80000 people last year. This year it is been held from the 19th till the 21st of July (2013). The event also promises fun activities
 to do to entertain larger audiences.

The Tramlines Festival has been running for 5 years now and says that "We're proud to have shown the world what the city has to offer, and we'll be keeping the party going this year, with loads of new additions and our biggest lineup yet." The day tickets are priced at £6.00. As the website says "We wanted to make sure that the Tramlines was still amazing value for money though....". The events include artists such as: Theme Park, Theo Parrish, Veronica Falls, 12 Dirty Bullets and loads more. 

Event 2: Resistanz Festival



Resistanz first took place in 2011 on the 2nd and 3rd of August at the infamous Corporation venue in Sheffield. The Festival covers industrial and electro music types. The dream was to "establish a line up of bands and DJ's every bit as strong as some of the more established festivals throughout the world, and covering the many sub-genres in the modern day industrial scene". They got 14 bands who are industrial acts, some European exclusives and more. 

The 2013 line up includes Neurotic Fish, Celldweller, Aesthetic Perfection, Uberbyte, Alien Vampires, C-Lekktor, Alter Der Ruine, Noisuf-x, iVardensphere, funker Vogt, Surgyn, CygnosiC, Method Cell, Terrolokaust, Blakopz Voster, Phosgore, Cease2xist, Chainreactor.

The event has been described as a "sellout event". 


Event 3: Music in the round - May Festival


The event includes a live chamber of music and film events shown at the Showroom Cinema (11th) and Kelham Island Museum (12th) between the 10th and 18th of May. This is to celebrate the centenaries of Sheffield's discovery of stainless steel, and also the birth of Benjamin Britten. 

The event is influenced by east/west musical collaborations. "an Alice in Wonderland inspired family concert of live music. Ensemble 360 and Avison Ensemble will be joined by guests. Prices vary from £5 - £15.






Event 4: Forward Saturdays

This event is described on the poster as "Blending sexy RnB with soulful house and dance groves all night long". The entry fee is £5 and is free for women before 12:30am. However if you have no ID there is no entry. It is open between 11:45pm till 6:00am on the 21st of September 2013. The website describes itself as "Sheffield's Finest DJ's Blending Sexy RnB, Soulful House & Dance Grooves All Night Long."














Event 5: Mosbrough Festival


Mosbrough is a music festival, it is set up near Westfield Crescent. The rules are no pets, no drugs, no BBQ's, No smoking (In marquee area), also ID will be required at the bar. Children under 13 are free to enter as long as there is an paying adult. Disabled people are also welcome, but you need to inform the organisers if you are attending. The doors open at 12 mid day and the first band stages at 12:15pm. The acts for 2013 are: Reverend & the Makers, Paul Heaton, Neville Staple, Jon Windle, Modern Faces, Exit Calm, John Reilly, The Darlingtons, Section 60, The Rainband and loads more.
